Benevolence Guidelines

Individuals seeking assistance from the Benevolence Ministry will be required to complete and sign an application so that the Benevolence Team can properly evaluate the eligibility of the request. 

Benevolence Information

The online application must be filled out completely and signed before being considered for assistance. In all cases, an interview with the applicant will be required to determine eligibility. 

The application is password protected, so please call the church at 972.276.5218 to be sent an email with the password.  If you do not have access to a computer or mobile phone to complete the application, please consider the library as a computer resource.

Time Limits

  • The time limit before a member can request assistance is once every 12 months.
  • The time limit before a non-member can request assistance is once every 24 months.

Eligibility/Funding Limits

  • Mt. Hebron has a limited amount of funds allocated for benevolence for members and non-members. A member of the Benevolence Team will contact each applicant to discuss the amounts available for members and non-members. 

Automatic Disqualification

  • If an applicant presents in writing, orally states or deliberately provides false information that the Benevolence Ministry deems to have the intent to deceive and or defraud, the application will be disqualified and the applicant will be ineligible to reapply for a period of 12 months.
  • The service for electric, water or gas is already disconnected before applying.

Benevolence Application Process

  1. When submitting an application for assistance, all required documentation accompanying the application must be provided before it will accepted.

  2. Documents needed to process and complete the application:
  • Utility Bill, Rental/Lease Agreement, Mortgage Payment Agreement
  • Driver's License or Identification Card
  • Proof of Income: Pay Stub or Social Security Income Statement

Acceptance of Application

  • Application is assigned to a Benevolence Ministry Team Member
  • Benevolence Ministry Team Member will review application and schedule a time to contact applicant.  Please verify all contact information to ensure they are correct.

Level of Urgency: If additional documentation/information is requested by Benevolence Ministry Team Member, the applicant has five (5) days from the date of request to produce such documentation/information.  The application can be closed after five (5) days at the Benevolence Ministry Team Member’s discretion.

Timeframe for Processing

  • Assigned Benevolence Ministry Team Member will contact applicant within three (3) to five (5) business days after the acceptance of application.
  • Note: It is incumbent upon the applicant to submit the application for assistance at least thirty (30) days prior to the bill's due date to allow Benevolence Ministry adequate processing time.
  • Applications normally will take about ten(10) or more days to process.

Approval Process

  • The Benevolence  Team Member will recommend approval or disapproval of the application submitted.
  • If the application is approved, the Benevolence Ministry Team Member will complete a check request for the pledged amount payable to the company/landlord/bank.
  • Checks are mailed via the United States Postal Service to the address provided on your application.
  • Disclaimer: If funds are exhausted, neither the Benevolence Team nor Mt. Hebron will assume any financial responsibility.
